Julie Weiss will lead a book discussion of Gilbert King's "Devil in the Grove" a true account of Thurgood Marshall's 1949 defense of 4 young black men accused of raping a white woman in Florida. Ms. Weiss lives in Eliot and is a hospice social worker, historian, writer, editor, educational consultant, former teacher at UNH and Middlesex Community College. She developed curriculum and instructional materials for K-12 classrooms on American history and a statewide civil rights history project. This program is part of a series of book and film discussions that is made possible by the Maine Humanities Council, the York Diversity Forum, United Methodist Church of York-Ogunquit, and the York Public Library.
